Trellis Lowdown - May v.2

A Borough of Churches

Part of the work that Trellis does is getting to know the great churches in Brooklyn by spending time with their leaders to hear about their passions, desires and capacities for neighborhood engagement

Recent weeks have provided a lot of opportunities to catch up with the pastors of these important and beautiful churches

Apostles Brooklyn

Planted in September 2013 by Derek Devine, this Acts 29 church has been doing amazing work in reaching and serving Fort Greene, Downtown and some of the surrounding neighborhoods.  In the months ahead, Trellis looks forward to working with a deacon team coming together at Apostles to help them engage and serve with their communities.

Hope Church Brooklyn

Coming in in 2017, this church planted out of the Hope Church network is hoping to plant a congregation in Fort Greene.  It was such a joy to sit down and talk with Russell Joyce about his heart and mission for the church and be able to connect him and his leadership to resources on how to get to know the beauty and needs of the neighborhood they hope to serve and bless.

The House Church Brooklyn

Also planted in 2013, Edwin Pacheco, started the House Church in Park Slope, Edwin and his team have been praying and planning towards starting a church in Red Hook, Brooklyn over the last year.  Trellis has been working alongside The House Church in helping them develop relationships with organizations in Red Hook and partnering in some prayer initiatives seeking to gather multiple churches together in geographic areas to pray for neighborhoods together.

Trellis' work continues in building relationships with these churches, with the hope of many more, towards the goal of fitting them with non-profits in their neighborhoods to see their communities and organizations thrive.
